Course Maps for Tri Jesus Triathlon (updated 6/12/08)
The
maps for the various disciplines are explained below.
SWIMMING
(Sprint): The
swim takes place in a 50 meter pool at Wavering Aquatic
Center. Swimmers will stagger start every 10 to 15 seconds (to be determined on race day.)
Swimmers will line up according to their estimated time of completing the 400 meter swim. (For example, a sprint participant who thinks they can do it in 7m50sec will be ahead of the person who can do it in 8m15sec.)
The line- up will take place just prior to the event start. Communicate with the person before and after you to make sure you are in the best possible order before entering the pool area.
The pool will be divided into four lanes.
Sprint swimmers will swim one lap in each of the four lanes
to complete the 400 meter distance.
SWIMMING
(Kids/Youth): Kids and youth will
have one and two laps respectively to reach 100 meters
and 200 meters. They may swim in the middle lanes of the pool.

CYCLING
(Sprint): Athletes need to be sure
and have their helmet on as they walk their bikes to
the end of the transition area to start the cycling
course.
Mainly, the course follows a clockwise circular
pattern on paved roads. Course marshals will be identifying
the major intersections and major turns. The course is
challenging and has a few hills on Ellington and Columbus. See the updated map with profile elevation section at the bottom.

CYCLING
(Kids/Youth):Young athletes need
to also be sure and have their helmet on as they walk
their bikes to the end of the transition area to start
the cycling course.
Mainly, the course follows a circular
pattern inside the park and part of a neighborhood to the south of the park. There will be a turn around at two different places based on the distance and category that the kids/youth participate.
Both the Kids and Youth maps are included on the same map. Note, the course is subject to minor changes to prevent hazards and make the distance correct.

RUNNING
(Sprint): After completing
the bike course, triathletes will park their bike in
the transition area and begin running. This year, we will NOT run to Upper MoorMan park as in past years.
The running is mostly flat with a long incline along 36th street. The turn-around point will be by Wiseman lane to the north of the park. When entering the park again, you will need to make a right turn onto 39th street. Head to the turn-around point just short of Marian Dr and then return to finish the race.
The final 500 feet is an incline just before the finish. You can do it though! :-)
Follow course marshals for further details
on race day. Again, the course is subject to minor changes to prevent hazards and make the distance correct.

RUNNING
(Kids/Youth): After completing
the bike course, triathletes will park their bike in
the transition area and begin running.
Kids will run towards the archery area and back. The youth will also run to the archery but then they will run to the right next to the baseball field at (lower) MoorMan park. The turn around will be marked and then head back to the finish line.
This is the same course as previous year. But, course is subject to change. Please make note at the race meeting on race day.
